
Mohammad Taheri is a professional woodcarver with a practice that span over 30 years. Mohammad was born in Tehran, Iran, and currently works from his studio in Toronto, Canada. He has always enjoyed drawing ,and at the age of sixteen, began exploring three-dimensional forms with plaster and clay. From there his artistic practice quickly evolved to focus on wood carving, sculpture, design and building musical instruments.
His expertise in carving has won numerous awards and prizes in Asia , Africa , Europe and North America.
Mohammad's work is held in both private and public collections, including the Iranian Museum of Contemporary Handicrafts, and he has taught carving and sculpture in multiple different materials for over a decade.
Mohammad's artistic practice spans the creation of original sculpture, commissions and historical art replicas, restoration and architectural elements, furniture, commercial artwork, and musical instruments. one of his many works includes replicating the Eagle Leg Grand Piano for Steinway &Son's legendary collection, which was made in 1903
